Audio Books Works produced for distribution on audio media, typically audiotape cassette or audio compact disk (CD). Audio Books are usually spoken-word adaptations of works originally created and produced in print. These works sometimes feature the author's own voice although many are given dramatic readings by one or more actors and/or at times embellished with sound effects. The reasons that audio books are such a raging hit, among other things are because, they aid the visually-challenged to have a feel of reading just like the others do; they give students the feel of being tutored, by simply listening to them; they let us listen to the reading while we are at our house work, or driving or simply lazing. The audio books market has an appealing collection to choose from, just like libraries. They are a boon to readers who are 'hesitant to go for that book for lack of time', students indifferent towards their reading for lack of effort and of course again to the visually challenged and not to forget children who need their favourite bedtime stories repeated over and over again. |
